Nadia Fediv
(b. 1997, Chicago, Illinois) is a Ukrainian-American artist based in Chicago, Illinois. She received her bachelor's degree from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Nadia Fediv uses vivid colors and multimedia materials such as foam, wood, and sculptural assemblage to create folk narratives deeply rooted in Ukrainian culture. Her practice is informed by her return to Ukraine in the summer of 2024, where she reconnected with family members who had endured the ongoing effects of war and displacement.
Rather than centering trauma, Fediv’s work transforms these experiences into spaces of tenderness and remembrance. Her focus shifts toward nostalgia, cultural memory, and the visual language of childhood drawing inspiration from storybooks, cartoons, and folkloric symbols. By doing so, she reimagines inherited traditions and collective histories through a contemporary lens.
The work creates a safe environment for reflection, play, and healing inviting viewers to engage with the resilience of cultural identity and the persistence of beauty amid adversity. Through tactile materials and vibrant storytelling, Fediv’s art becomes both a personal archive and a communal space where memory and folk intertwine.
